This is something I wish I'd been able to remember when I was knee-deep in my studio courses freshman year. I think as artists, we tend to have high expectations of our ability and failing isn't an option. But I think that sometimes, "failing" is the best thing you can do for yourself. Everyone is going to slip up and fall down sometimes, and on occasion, when we think we're making horrible mistakes, we're actually creating something brilliant. I need to remind myself to go ahead and fail sometimes, because perfection just simply isn't attainable in an imperfect world.
